Light Project Evaluation

This project was about looking at a variety of types of light and different types of light sources. we also experimented with different techniques to create different effects such as light painting, soft lighting, hard lighting, shadows etc.

In this project i was required to use an SLR camera to capture pictures of different types of light and different light backgrounds. i also used a light painting tool on the internet, i had to use light sources like a torch, lazer pens, the light from my phone screen etc and i waved them around in front of the camera to create interesting images. we was also required to capture images in different light scenery's such as sunsets, night time, sun rise, the sea etc. we was also required to edit images on photoshop to create interesting light effects.

An artist that inspired was Julien Breton who is a Light painter, Photographer and calligrapher. His work was based around making arabic symbols with a golden calligraphy with also using martial art dancers as well.

In my final outcome designs i decided to take pictures of light sources and photographs using light then to combine them together in a sort of collage and edit them in different colours to create a overlapping effect. I decided to use one specific colour for each collage and then at the end mount them all together.

Overall i was happy with my outcomes but i could have improved a number of things. Firstly i felt that i could have been more creative with the pictures i was taking and should of explored and took more pictures of scenery and light such as buildings with lights and colourful scenery.

Overall i think the project went good, i could have done better with the sub-tasks and the independent work such as going and taking pictures in my own time of a wide range of light related things on the street and the environment etc. I was happy with my final outcomes and i enjoyed this project.
